Recent Academic Distinction

2004 Maclean’s University Ranking
Opinion leaders across Canada have again ranked Acadia University Best Overall in Maclean's annual reputation survey of primarily undergraduate universities. Acadia has ranked first in this category every year since 1994. “Being ranked best overall by Canadian guidance counselors, high school principals, recruiters and CEOs means a great deal to Acadia graduates,” said Dr. Gail Dinter-Gottlieb, Acadia’s President and Vice-Chancellor. “Having a well-established reputation for providing high-quality education, being innovative and producing tomorrow’s leaders means Acadia alumni are more competitive in the job market and when pursuing post-graduate degrees.”

Acadia also ranked highest amongst all Atlantic Canadian universities in Maclean’s national reputational comparison. This places Acadia ahead of primarily undergraduate, comprehensive and medical doctoral institutions in the region. In the Maclean’s ranking of primarily undergraduate universities, Acadia placed third, a position it has held for the past three years. And in the graduate survey introduced by Maclean’s this year, 82 per cent of Acadia graduates responding rated their educational experience as “very good” placing Acadia fourth highest in the country. “The results of the graduate survey underscore the real value of the Acadia experience,” said Dr. Dinter-Gottlieb. “Acadia students have access to top-notch faculty, are often directly engaged in research projects while earning their undergraduate degree and live in one of Canada’s most desirable and safest communities while studying, so it’s no surprise they rate their learning environment and overall educational experience so highly.”
