Introduction of AUT
The Auckland University of Technology, AUT, is New Zealand’s newest and fastest growing university. It has been the country’s leading Institute of Technology for over 100 years, and was given university status by the government in 2000 in recognition of its national and international stature in creativity, innovation, research and excellence in teaching.
The University provides an outstanding environment for teaching and learning for its 15,000 students who include a cohort of international students from over 60 countries. It offers more than 250 undergraduate and postgraduate programs through the faculties of Arts, Commerce, Health Studies, Science and Engineering. Diplomas and Certificate programs are also offered.
The University provides a wide range of support services for international students including health services, accommodation placement, job finding assistance and discount travel.
AUT welcomes international students and has accredited the Taylors Auckland Foundation Year program (TAFY) as a special pathway to the university. Taylors students who attain the grades specified for admission to the particular degree program are guaranteed entry to the university.
Taylor’s College is established as the leader in the provision of University preparation programs for international students wishing to study in Australia. With campuses in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth, Taylors has set standards other education providers strive to match without success.
For 4 years in a row, Taylors College has been identified as the most effective school in Victoria for preparing students for university entry.
Taylors College was established in 1920 and aims to maximise the performance of its students with the objective of helping its students gain entry to the most prestigious universities. New Zealand’s reputation amongst international students is growing through its government’s active support for international students and increasing awareness overseas of the high quality university degree programs offered.

New Zealand offers a sample of every possible landscape within a relatively small country, from rolling green farmland to barren volcanic desert areas, from golden beaches with clear blue water to majestic snow-covered mountains. New Zealand is similar in size to the United Kingdom or Japan but the population is only about 3.8 million. Most of the people live in urban areas, so the countryside is very sparsely populated.
